Drake vs. SIU Postgame Notes

TEAM NOTES
  • The loss snapped Drake's 15-game home win streak, the ninth-longest streak in the nation to start to the day. It was Drake's first loss at home since Jan. 30, 2019. The Bulldogs are 11-1 at home this season and 35-6 over the last three seasons.
  • Drake committed just eight turnovers, its second-fewest of the season. It was the Bulldogs' first loss this season when committing fewer turnovers than its opponent. The team is 20-3 over the last two seasons when doing so.
  • Drake shot 46 percent (29-of-63) in the loss. In Drake's five MVC losses, the team has shot 45.7 percent (123-of-269).
  • The loss marked Drake's first back-to-back losses since Jan. 2-5, 2019. Drake is now 8-2 over the past two seasons in home games immediately following a road loss.
  • Drake held a 32-26 advantage in rebounding. Drake fell to 9-3 this season when outrebounding its opponent and 27-5 over the last two seasons.
  • SIU made eight first-half three-pointers on 12 attempts and finished with 13 three-pointers, one shy of a season-high, on 20 attempts (.650). The 13 three-pointers tied for the most Drake has surrendered this season. SIU's 65 percent night from the arc was the best by a Drake opponent this season.
  • Drake faced a 21-point deficit less than two minutes into the second half. That was the second-biggest deficit Drake has faced in league play this season behind a 26-point margin in the first meeting with SIU this season.
  • SIU's Marcus Domask's 28 points were the second most an opposing player has scored against Drake this season.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Garrett Sturtz' career-high 18 points came on 7-of-9 shooting with seven rebounds and three assists. He has scored in double figures in three of the last four games and is averaging 11.5 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 19-of-24 during that span.
  • Sturtz also drew six of the 15 fouls SIU committed.
  • Liam Robbins had five blocks to record his fourth-straight game with three or more blocks. The total adds to the school record he already owns for blocks in a season with 64 blocks this season. He has 99 career blocks, the fourth-most in school history. He added eight points to mark just the second time in the last 15 games he hasn't scored in double-figures.
  • Noah Thomas posted a season-high 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting. In last season's meeting with the Salukis, he scored a career-high 24 points. In his last three games against SIU, he is averaging 14.3 points per game.
  • With 1:56 left in the first half, Joseph Yesufu checked into the game for his first action since Dec. 21. Yesufu had been sidelined with a left knee injury. He finished with two points.
  • Jonah Jackson was held without a three-pointer for just the third time this season and second in league play.
  • Antonio Pilipovic equaled a career-high with two three-pointers.

SERIES NOTES
  • SIU improved to 60-35 all-time against Drake and 17-10 in the Knapp Center.
  • SIU earned its first season sweep of the Bulldogs since 2016.
