TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A season-high six players scored in double figures for the Drake University women's basketball team in a 92-71 Missouri Valley Conference road victory at Indiana State Saturday afternoon inside the Hulman Center.
Sara Rhine just missed her third-straight double-double with a team-high 19 points and nine rebounds while
Becca Hittner added 14 points and seven rebounds.
Kierra Collier and
Brenni Rose scored 14 and 12 points, respectively. Off the bench,
Monica Burich and
Allie Wooldridge each tallied 11 points as the Bulldogs' reserves finished with 32 points.
Drake (18-7, 10-3 MVC) bounced back from a tough shooting performance in Thursday's win at Evansville with a balanced scoring attack and it finished at 58.3 percent shooting from the floor. As a team, the Bulldogs had an impressive 29 assists on 35 field goals, including junior
Hannah Fuller dishing out a career-high six.
Maddie Monahan handed out seven and has had five or more assists in nine-straight games.
Jamyra McChristine led Indiana State (4-21, 2-11 MVC) with a game-high 22 points.
The balanced scoring continued for the Bulldogs out of halftime as Fuller drilled a three-pointer at the 4:55 mark of third quarter. Fuller was the ninth Bulldog to score in the game. The Sycamores closed the quarter with a strong run but Drake still led 74-56 after three quarters.
The Bulldogs had nearly identical offensive statistics in each of the first two quarters as they held their largest first-half lead at halftime, 53-36. Rhine had team-high 11 points while Hittner had 10. The Bulldogs' bench scored 17 points as Burich and Wooldridge each scored seven points. As a team, Drake had 16 assists on 21 field goals. Fuller equaled her career-best with five assists in the first two quarters.
All 12 active Bulldogs played at least one minute in the win. The team outscored the Sycamores, 54-42, in the paint while holding a 39-31 rebounding advantage on the glass.
Drake returns to the Knapp Center Thursday, Feb. 20 for its annual Pink Game Presented by MercyOne Medical Center as Bradley visits. The game will start at 6 p.m. and be streamed on ESPN+.
