Men's Tennis Set for Two Weekend Duals

Roger Knapp Tennis Center is home for a busy weekend of Drake tennis.

DES MOINES – The Drake University men's tennis team hosts two duals this weekend at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. The Bulldogs take on Michigan State on Friday at 6 p.m. before facing New Mexico on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Drake (2-10) is looking to build on the momentum from its 4-3 victory over DePaul in its last match. The Bulldogs claimed the doubles point thanks to wins by Reid Jarvis/Matija Matic and Evan Fragistas/Finley Hall. Hall, Jarvis and Matic all earned singles victories to clinch the dual result.

Michigan State will enter Friday's dual with a 4-4 record, including an 0-3 mark on the road. Drake defeated the Spartans, 4-3, in East Lansing last season. Michigan State holds a .362 winning percentage in singles play this year and a .364 clip in doubles play.

After losing its first four duals of the year, New Mexico (3-4) has rebounded with three consecutive wins. The Lobos are 0-2 on the road this season, and the Bulldogs knocked them off in Albuquerque last season, 4-1.

Dominic West, the reigning Mountain West Conference Player of the Week, is the player to watch for the Lobos. West earned All-MWC honors last season after recording 23 wins to eight losses in singles play.
