Men’s Basketball Heads To Loyola For Final Road Game of 2019-20

Bulldogs enter final week of the conference season

The Drake University men's basketball team heads to Loyola for its final road game of the 2019-20 season Tuesday evening at Loyola. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Gentile Arena on MVC TV affiliates, including Fox Sports Midwest and NBC Sports Chicago.

Loyola is tied for second in the Missouri Valley Conference standings at 11-5 while Drake's 8-8 mark has it in a three-way tie for sixth heading into the final week of conference action.

Earlier this season, Liam Robbins helped Drake defeat Loyola in Des Moines, 65-62, with 20 points, nine rebounds and a school-record seven blocks. The forward continues to add to his school-record total for blocks this season with 82 and ranks ninth nationally in blocks as well.

MVC preseason Player of the Year Cameron Krutwig had 14 points and seven rebounds in that meeting. The forward is averaging 15.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

The Bulldogs are coming off a last-minute, 57-53, loss at Illinois State that was the team's lowest offensive output in an MVC game this season to drop the team to 1-7 in league road games.

Drake is in search of its second MVC road win of the season and is first win at Gentile Arena since 1995. Recording both of those milestones would give the Bulldogs a regular-season sweep of the Ramblers for the first time since Loyola joined the MVC.

Despite this year's struggles on the road, Drake's 18 overall wins give the Bulldogs 42 wins over the last two seasons, the sixth-most in any two-year period in school history and the most in the first two years of any coach's tenure.

Following Tuesday's contest, Drake returns home for its regular-season finale Saturday, Feb. 29 against in-state rival UNI before a national television audience on ESPN2 at 5 p.m.
