Men’s Basketball To Host UNI At A Sold-Out Knapp Center

Bulldogs and Panthers to play before a sellout crowd and national television audience.

The Drake University men's basketball team closes out the 2019-20 regular season Saturday afternoon against UNI before a sellout crowd at the Knapp Center and a national television audience. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. on ESPN2 between the two in-state foes.

Drake (18-12, 8-9 MVC) returns to its home court where it is 14-1 this season and has won 18 of its last 19 games. The Bulldogs' 14 home wins equal the facility record for men's wins in a season as the team has outscored opponents by more than 15 points per game this season at the Knapp Center.

UNI (24-5, 13-4 MVC) travels to Des Moines having already claimed a share of the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title. The Panthers have won two-straight games at home but dropped their last two road contests. Drake has won two-straight games in the series at the Knapp Center.

During the first meeting between the two teams this season, UNI eked out an 83-73 win at the McLeod Center behind 34 points from A.J. Green. Liam Robbins posted 17 points for the Bulldogs.

Robbins enters the second game between the two ranked seventh nationally in blocks with 2.87 per game this season and a school-record 86 blocks this season. His rim-protecting goes along with his 14.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game as he has scored in double-figures in 19 of the last 22 games with six double-doubles this season.

Garrett Sturtz leads the Bulldogs back home after one of his strongest games as a Bulldog with 17 points, eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks at Loyola. That performance was one of only 26 in the nation in which a player has had 17 points, eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks or more in a game this season. The sophomore is shooting 79.6 percent during the last 11 games.

Green leads the Panthers with 19.9 points per game and has scored in double-figures in four of the last six games.

Following Saturday's season finale, both teams trek to St. Louis for the MVC Tournament, March 5-8, at the Enterprise Center.
