Former Drake University women's basketball standouts
Becca Hittner and
Sara Rhine have each signed contracts with professional basketball clubs in Spain. Hittner signed with C.B. Al-Qázeres while Rhine signed with Club Polideportivo Bembibre. The clubs are in the same league, LF Endesa, as Hittner and Rhine will compete against each other. Their season is scheduled to begin mid-September.
The duo had their decorated collegiate careers end suddenly in March due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the abrupt end, Rhine (2,186) and Hittner (2,133) rank fifth and sixth, respectively, in career points at Drake along several other all-time school and Missouri Valley Conference statistical categories. They each won numerous MVC and national awards for their successes on the basketball court and in the classroom. Drake qualified for three-straight NCAA Championships while winning five MVC titles during their careers.
Hittner and Rhine join an impressive group of former Bulldogs who went on to play professionally overseas. Two of their former teammates, Caitlin Ingle (Denmark, 2017-18) and Maddy Dean (Cyprus, 2019-20), are the last to do it.
