Undefeated Men’s Basketball Hosts SIU

Bulldogs and Salukis to face off on ESPNU and CBS Sports Network

The Drake University men's basketball team returns to the Knapp Center to host SIU Sunday and Monday in its first home series of the Missouri Valley Conference season. Both games, which are presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines, will feature a national television audience as Sunday's 5 p.m. game will be broadcast by ESPNU and Monday's 6 p.m. tipoff will air on CBS Sports Network.

Drake enters the series leading the nation in wins with its school-record 11-0 start to the season after sweeping Indiana State last week to open Valley play. SIU won its first seven games of the season before falling to Evansville in its last game to split the series with the Aces.

The Bulldogs have won 10 of their 11 games by double-digits and are outsourcing opponents by nearly 25 points per game. That margin has been thanks to an efficient offensive attack that ranks seventh nationally in field goal percentage at 53.1 percent and 11th in three-point accuracy.

D.J. Wilkins, who came into the season a career 35-percent shooter from the arc, is 10th in the nation in three-point accuracy at 52.7 percent after a productive offseason in the gym to lead that shooting barrage. He has been even more accurate as of late, shooting 27-of-48 in the last seven games.

SIU ranks one spot ahead of Drake in three-point shooting at 41.9 percent this season with Trent Brown's 55.9 percent effort leading the way. Marcus Domask, the 2020 MVC Newcomer of the Year, leads the Salukis with 18.1 points per game,

Following the SIU series, the Bulldogs remain home to host Loyola Jan. 10-11 for another pair of nationally televised games.
