DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team suffered a 4-3 setback to North Dakota to open the 2021 season at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
 
The Bulldogs claimed the doubles point with three wins in doubles action. However, North Dakota won four singles matches to prevail.
 
In singles action for the Bulldogs, Liza Petushkova defeated Kaede Amano, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Maria Tatarnikova prevailed over Allie Ochtoroena 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.
 
The Bulldogs continue their season-opening homestand Feb. 6 against South Dakota.
