CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Drake University men's golf team placed third at the Xavier Invitational held at the Maketewah Country Club. Drake posted a final team score of 875 (297-262-292) and finished 12 strokes behind Morehead State and Northern Illinois. Morehead State claimed the team title over NIU with a tie-breaker based on the score of its fifth player.
Tim Lim finished in a three-way tie for third with a score of 214 (74-68-72). Reece Nilsen of Northern Illinois earned individual medalist honors with a score of 207 (71-69-67). Lim was part of a four-way tie for runner-up, and that tie-breaker was based on scores from the third round, working backwards from hole 18 as Thomas Giroux of Oakland was declared runner-up.
Nick Pittman moved up to 10 spots to tie for 24th after his final round of an an even-par 71. In just his second career tournament, freshman Nikko Gannas shot a final round 73 to join Pittman in the five-way tie for 24
th.
Drake finishes its fall season at the ODU/Outer Banks Intercollegiate Oct. 24-26 at the Kilmarlic Golf Club in Powell's Point, N.C.
