The Drake men's golf team battled cold and windy conditions in the final round of the ODU/OBX Invitational Tuesday, to place seventh out of 17 teams. The Bulldogs finished with a final score of one-over par 853 (282-284-287).
"Although we weren't happy dropping a few spots on the leader board, I was impressed how the guys battled down the stretch, and we played the final seven holes at eight strokes under par," said Head Coach
Matt Lewis. "Tim and Lucas played great for the entire tournament. They definitely led us and had a huge impact on our finish."
Tim Lim, a graduate senior out of Hoffman Estates, Ill., once again paced Drake with a two-under par 69. Lim's -7 performance for the tournament was good for third place out of 87 golfers. Finishing one stroke behind Lim with a final round one-under par 70 was
Lucas Scherf. A senior from Grinnell, Iowa, Scherf finished tied for fourth as an individual with a -6 effort for the tournament.
Drake and tournament champion Delaware were the only teams to have multiple individual players finish in the top seven.
Freshman
Nikko Ganas +8 (71, 73, 77), junior
Nick Pittman +11 (75, 76, 73) and junior
Silvester Tan +14 (79, 73, 75) rounded out the competition for the Bulldogs.
