RENO, NEV. -- The Drake University women's basketball team conquered San Francisco, 84-60, Saturday evening at the Nugget Classic presented by the University of Nevada.
The Bulldogs shot a season high of 87 percent from the free throw line against San Francisco.
Drake took the early lead after junior
Megan Meyer hit a three 34 seconds into the game. The Bulldogs then went on a 5-0 run after the Dons score a field goal. Drake finished out the first quarter leading by 14.
Meyer finished with a career high 15 points. She added three rebounds and one steal to the books.
In the second quarter, the Bulldogs went on a 22-17 run. Junior
Sarah Beth Gueldner and freshman
Anna Miller combined for 10 points in the second quarter alone.
Gueldner hit a season high of four three's to finish with a season high 14 points.
Sophomore
Courtney Becker tied a season high of 11 points with one three pointer made. She added three assists for Drake.
Freshman
Katie Dinnebier continues to make an impact for the Bulldogs offensively. She recorded a career high eight assists. Dinnebier finished with four points, four rebounds, and three steals for Drake.
The Don's received two technical fouls with 31 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Graduate
Maddie Petersen went to the free throw line for the Bulldogs and made all four shots, putting Drake ahead 67-41.
San Francisco was led by sophomore forward Kennedy Dickie who recorded 19 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.
The Don's shot a season low of 30.9 percent from the floor and 29 percent from the arc.
The Bulldogs return to the court in Reno, Nev. on Sunday Nov. 28 to take on Idaho in their final meeting at the Nugget Classic. Tipoff is set for 1 pm CST.
