Drake vs. UNI Postgame Notes - Feb. 10

TEAM NOTES
  • Drake's 19-1 record matches its best start to a season in school history with the 2007-08 team.
  • The 19 wins are the eighth-most in program history.
  • The 10-1 start to the MVC season is the second-best start to the league season in program history.
  • The win was Darian's DeVries 63rd at Drake to move him into a tie for the seventh most coaching victories in Drake history. DeVries is tied with Rudy Washington who coached 165 games at Drake. The game was DeVries' 88th at Drake. 
  • Drake improved to 38-4 at home in the last three seasons, while remaining undefeated at home this season at 11-0.
  • Drake is now 30-17 in MVC games under head coach Darian DeVries.
  • Drake outrebounded UNI, 42-26, improving to 18-1 when outrebounding opponents. This also marked the ninth game this season in which Drake has outrebounded opponents by double-digits.
  • UNI is the eighth opponent this season Drake has held below 60 points.
  • Drake improved to 28-0 during the Darrian DeVries coaching era when scoring 80 or more points in a game, including 12-0 this season. 
  • Drake, coming off a season-low two three-point baskets at Valparaiso Sunday, made six three-pointers, its most in its last three games. 
  • Drake's 10-0 run in the first half marked the 11th game this season Drake has had a run of 10-0 or greater. 
  • Drake's 41-29 halftime lead was its eighth double-digit halftime lead of the season and third in MVC action. 
  • The 41 first-half points tied for Drake's second most the first half of an MVC game this season. 
  • Drake improved to 16-0 when leading at halftime this season and is now 51-5 when that feat occurs under DeVries.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Joseph Yesufu scored a career-high 18 points. He made all nine free throws taken, a career record for most made and attempted. He has scored in double-figures in two of the last three games. 
  • Tremell Murphy scored 18 points, making it the third game this season he scored 15 or more points. This also marks the ninth time this season he has scored double digits. The team was +16 with him on the floor.
  • Issa Samake had a career-high 5 rebounds. He was also on the floor for 16:12 seconds, making it his most action this season, while matching his season-high of four points. The Bulldogs were +14 with him on the floor.
  • D.J. Wilkins scored 15 points and made 6-of-7 field goals.
  • ShaQuan Hemphill had 9 rebounds, making it the fourth time this season he had 9 or more. He added eight points to his total. 
  • Roman Penn had six points and six assists. He is five assists away from ranking eighth in Drake history. The Bulldogs were +19 with him on the floor.

SERIES NOTES
  • Drake, winning its second straight 20-plus point decision against the Panthers, moved to 29-50 in the all-time series against UNI, including a 13-15 mark in the Knapp Center. 
  • The Bulldogs have won three of their last four home games against UNI. This was Drake's 10th double-digit win in the series. 
  • The margin of victory tied for Drake's second-biggest in the series and biggest as MVC foes.
