The Bulldogs and Ramblers sit on top of the Missouri Valley Conference standings at 10-1 and 12-1, respectively. Earlier this week, the Ramblers replaced the Bulldogs in the top-25 rankings and visit Des Moines ranked No. 22/23.
Drake has already won the eighth-most games in program history and is one win away from reaching the 20-win mark for the third consecutive season, an accomplishment that has only been achieved once previously in program history.
In their last outing, Drake rebounded from its first loss of the season to defeat UNI, 80-59, behind 18 points from both
Joseph Yesufu and
Tremell Murphy. The win was the Bulldogs' 14
th double-digit win of the season and second-straight 20-point win over UNI.
Loyola visits Des Moines riding a 10-game win streak that has vaulted the Ramblers to the top of the conference leaderboard. Saturday's game features the top two scoring teams in the league as Drake averages a league-best 81.3 points per game while Loyola scores at a 73.9 points per game clip.
Defensively, the spots flip for average points surrendered as Loyola's opponents are scoring just 56.2 points per game while Drake has given up 63.0 points per game.
Following this weekend's series, Drake travels to Cedar Falls for a rematch with UNI Feb. 17.
