Women’s Basketball Starts Postseason WNIT Friday against Milwaukee

The Bulldogs and the Panthers last met Nov. 10, 2017 in the Preseason WNIT. Drake won 77-73 at the Knapp Center and owns an 8-0 record all-time in the series.

The Drake University women's basketball team has accepted a bid to the 2021 Postseason WNIT. Drake will play Milwaukee Friday at 8 p.m. in the Rockford, Ill. Regional. The Rockford Regional games will be held at the UW Health Sports Factory.
 
Tickets will not be available to purchase for the general public. All games will be available via video streaming through FloHoops. The game will be on radio on 1350 ESPN Des Moines.
 
The 2021 WNIT is a modified 32-team event with eight teams at four regionals across the United States. Also new this year, teams will get a minimum of two games in Rounds 1-3 (March 18-24), with championship and consolation brackets at each regional site (Rockford, Ill; Charlotte, N.C; Fort Worth, Texas; Memphis, Tenn.).
 
All four regional champions will then advance to the semifinal and championship games of the 2021 Postseason WNIT to be held in Memphis on March 26 and 28.

Drake is making its 12th all-time appearance in the WNIT, including making a run to the WNIT final four in 1999. The Bulldogs own a 14-13 all-time record in 27 Postseason WNIT games.

Game 4: Milwaukee (19-7) vs. Drake (16-11), 8 p.m.
 
Round 2 - Saturday, March 20
Consolation: Losers Game 1 and 2: 11 a.m.
Consolation: Losers Game 3 and 4: 2 p.m.
Championship Semifinal: Winners Game 1 and 2: 5 p.m.
Championship Semifinal: Winners Game 3 and 4: 8 p.m.
 
Round 3 - Monday, March 22
Consolation Final: 4 p.m.
Championship Final: 7 p.m.
