The Drake University men's golf team carded a team score of 297 in the final round of the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon to slide into a ninth-place finish at the two-day, three-round event.
The Bulldogs began the final round in a tie for fourth place but slipped down the leaderboard on the day to finish at 285-292-297 – 874. SIUE won the event at the par-71, 6,670-yard Twin Oaks Country Club with a 6-over par score of 290-287-281 – 858. The Cougars' final round was the best on the day by five strokes.
Shayne Patel and
Nick Pittman finished in a tie for 15
th for the Bulldogs as Pittman shot an even-par 71 in his final round, the Bulldogs' best of the day. Patel finished with rounds of 71-72-74 – 217 while Pittman went 73-73-71 – 217.
Tim Lim, who began the day in seventh place shot a 76 in the final round to finish tied for 20
th at 70-72-76 – 218.
Lucas Scherf finished four strokes behind Lim at 71-75-76 – 222 while
Kyle MacDonald completed the Bulldogs' scoring with a 74-76-76 – 226.
Drake returns to action April 5-6 at the MU Tiger Invitational in Columbia, Mo.
