DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake University senior goalkeeper Kelsie Stone was named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Stone played all 110 minutes of Drake's 1-1 draw against Valparaiso, recording 14 saves to tie a school record and mark a career high. Stone's final save came with 43 seconds left to preserve the draw.
She ranks first in the MVC for most saves this season and fourth in the nation.
This is Stone's first Defensive Player of the Week award this season. She earned the honor in the 2019 season for the week of Sept. 23.
The Bulldogs host Evansville Sunday March 28, with kickoff slated for 1 p.m.
