"Our first half performance was excellent both in and out of possession and led exceptionally well by our captain
Lucas Bartlett. I was pleased with our composure in possession, our ability to build the game through the thirds, and with our overall positioning and game management," said head coach
Gareth Smith. "We created a number of very good chances and should have been more clinical with those opportunities to extend our lead going into the halftime. I am delighted to see TC get on the scoresheet as he was excellent again today. "
The Aces received four yellow cards, with one being on head coach Marshall Ray in the second half.
In the 63rd minute, senior MLS Draft Pick
Leroy Enzugusi scored off a pass from
Absalom Solorio. Enzugusi's goal marked the 14th goal of his career.
Smith said, "The second half was a little more stop-start as Evansville adjusted their approach by playing more direct and committed more players into advance positions to get back into the game. We knew the game would open up as a result and that more opportunities would emerge on the counter. It was good awareness and a great final ball by Absalom to find Leroy who showed his quality and class with a sublime finish for the game winner. "

"As always there are a few details to polish up on but overall a very good and professional performance. Now we turn or attention to our preparations for Bradley next week," said Smith.
