Drake vs. Missouri State Postgame Notes - March 5

TEAM NOTES
  • The Bulldogs improved their record to 25-3 – the third-most wins in school single-season history trailing the 26-5 record by the 1969 NCAA Final Four team and 28-5 mark by 2008 team which swept both the MVC regular season and post-season tournament titles.
  • Drake improved to 11-1 this season when Darnell Brodie collects eight or more rebounds. He had 10 today.
  • Drake owned a 40-37 halftime lead, improving its record to 20-1 when that happens.
  • Drake committed a season-low two turnovers, eclipsing the previous low of five at UNI. The two turnovers also the lowest turnover total in an MVC Tournament game in the past 20 years since that turnover record was kept. The previous low was three by UNI against Illinois State March 8, 2015.
  • The Bulldogs went more than 20 minutes without a turnover from the  8:58 mark in the first half until the  7:11 mark in the second half.
  • Drake was outrebounded, 36-32, for just the eighth time this season but did improve its record to 6-2 when that feat happens.
  • Drake is 8-0 when scoring between 70-79 points.
  • Drake outscored MSU in points off turnovers, 14-0. It marked the first time this season an opponent had failed to score any points off Drake miscues.
  • There were 16 lead changes—the most in any Drake game this season—compared to a combined six lead changes in the previous two meetings between the teams this season.
  • Drake's defense limited Isiaih Mosley, the leading scorer in the MVC (20.4 ppg), to just five points which was his second-lowest point total of the season.
  • Drake earned its first victory on a Saturday in three tries this season.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • Joseph Yesufu tallied a game-high 25 points, including the game-winning layup with 2.5 seconds left. It marked his fifth career 20-plus scoring game—all coming in the last six-game stretch. Yesufu led Drake with 14 in the first half which almost doubled his combined output of eight points in the previous two games (5, 3) vs. Missouri State.
  • It marked the sixth-straight game Yesufu reached double-digit scoring. Prior to that six-game stretch, he had eight career double-digit games.
  • Tremell Murphy earned his third career 20-plus scoring game with 20 points, including 10 in the first half.  He added seven rebounds.
