Men's Tennis Travels To Tulsa For A Pair of Matches

Bulldogs to tangle with Tulsa and Oral Roberts

The Drake University men's tennis team travels to Tulsa, Okla. this weekend for two matches. The weekend begins Saturday against Tulsa at noon, followed by a Summit League match against Oral Roberts Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Bulldogs defeated both Omaha and Gustavus Adolphus last weekend, beating Omaha 4-3 and then Gustavus Adolphus 5-2. These two wins extended a winning streak to three wins and brought Drake's record to an even 4-4. The Omaha victory moved the Bulldogs to 2-0 and second place in the conference standings. Oliver Johansson, Evan Fragistas and Markus Bolin won all of their singles matches over the pair of competitions this past weekend.

Tulsa is 9-8 on the year including a win over a ranked Texas Tech. However, they are coming off a pair of losses to ranked foes, Mississippi and Oklahoma State. Tulsa was close in those battles losing both matches by just one point at 4-3. Juan Pablo Cenoz and Daniel Siddall were the only players to manage a win in singles competition. Drake last met up with Tulsa towards the end of the 2018-19 season and lost, 5-2.

Oral Roberts is 2-9 after 11 matches this year, one of those loses being to North Dakota, a conference opponent. Most recently, Oral Roberts topped South Western 6-1, losing just one singles match. Before they meet up with the Bulldogs, the Golden Eagles will take on Denver Friday, another Summit team. Drake has won both of the last two matches against Oral Roberts, 6-1.

Following this pair of matches in Tulsa, the Bulldogs will stay on the road to take on Denver on April 10.
