EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 10 Texas A&M ended the Drake University women's tennis team's third-ever NCAA Tournament trip with a 4-0 win Friday afternoon. The Missouri Valley Conference Champions were making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2000 and finished the season with an 11-9 record.
 
Texas A&M opened with the doubles point thanks to 6-0 and 6-2 wins at No. 3 and 2 doubles, respectively.
 
Unfortunately, the Bulldogs' luck did not turn in singles play as the Aggies reeled off successive wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles.
 
Liza Petushkova, an All-MVC selection, fell at No. 1 singles to Tatiana Makarova, 6-1, 6-2. Makarova entered the match ranked 25^th in the nation.
 
Daria Walczak, who also earned All-MVC honors, was clipped next at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Jayci Goldsmith. Texas A&M's Katya Townsend then closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ines Stephani.
 
Matches at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles were left unfinished with the Aggies leading in all three matches.
 
In addition to being the Bulldogs' first NCAA trip in 21 seasons it was their ninth MVC crown in program history.
