ITHICA, NEW YORK — The Drake University men's tennis team fell in their season opener at Cornell University on Saturday Jan. 22. 

The Bulldogs were unable to top the Bears in the singles portion of the morning. 

Sophomore Olle Sonesson Lidholt was the closest Bulldog to secure a win in the singles portion

Drake went 0-6 in the singles, but finished 3-0 in the doubles portion of the weekend. 

All three of Drake's doubles teams won their matches. Evan Fragistas and Lidholt defeated Evan Bynoe and Radu Papoe 6-1. 

Markus Bolin and Matija Matic defeated Jack McCarthy and Adit Sinha by one point to finish the match 7-6. 

Drake returns to Des Moines to host Northern Illinois on Friday Jan. 28.
