THE BASICS
Drake rowing will travel north to the University of Minnesota on Saturday, April 9. The format will consist of time pieces rather than distance pieces.

"I want to thank the University of Minnesota for letting us come up," head coach
Charlie DiSilvestro said. "The weather will be chilly when we get started but will warm up throughout the day. I'm looking forward to a nice day of racing."
LAST TIME OUT
The Drake University rowing team impressed against host Creighton, Saint Mary's and Santa Clara at the Creighton Invite on Saturday (April 2).
The Bulldogs began with a strong second place finish in the opening flight of the first varsity 8 race with a time of 7:00.1. The boat (
Sarah Sutton,
Taylor Fausey,
Kiernan Blanchard,
Lindsay York,
Hailey Hovland,
Maddie Smith,
Noam Wasik,
Amanda Pereira and
Maggie Poltrock) was only 6.1 seconds behind Creighton for first place while finishing ahead of Saint Mary's and Santa Clara.
Drake's second flight of the first varsity 8 race logged a time of 7:23.1. Drake's third and final flight registed a time of 7:07.8, while Creighton won at 6:57.1.
The Bulldogs won the second and third flights of the second varsity 8 with times of 7:44.6 and 7:14.8 respectively. Drake's boat consisted of
Emily Zozokos,
Alex Whyte,
Sara Wilson,
Paige Sala, Rachel Weiss and
Abby Crupi in both flights with
Ilse Fredrickson, Zoe Zillgitt and
Bella Wolfe on flight two while
Lisette Villalba Torres, Mary Jones and
Annika Fredeen joined flight three. Zilgitt had to switch to starboard in a last minute change and excelled.
The coxswains (
Sarah Sutton,
Emily Zozokos,
Maddie Smith and
Meghan Faria) for Drake rowing were outstanding in every race.
With limited lineup time, Drake competed in three flights of the first varsity four including a second place time of 9:22.3 in the second flight to best Saint Mary's (9:22.3). That boat included
Maddie Smith,
Jenna Smyth,
Beatrice Kearns,
Annika Fredeen and
Mary Jonas.
