Randolph Ross was involved in two Drake Relays records Friday and then capped a terrific weekend by running the second leg on North Carolina's winning men's university 4x400 relay Saturday.

Assisted by Ross, North Carolina A&T broke one of the longest standing Drake Relays records, running 38.84 in the preliminaries of the university-college men's 4x100 relay Friday afternoon. The old record of 38.96 had stood since 1983 by Alabama. Less than five hours later Ross, the reigning NCAA Indoor and Outdoor 400 champ, won the Drake Relays men's university-college 400 in convincing fashion with a season best 44.95 which ranks No. 10 on the 2022 world list and tied for No. 2 on the 2022 collegiate list.

With Ross running the second leg, North Carolina A&T cruised to its second straight victory in the university 4x400 relay Saturday in 3:05.60.

Dalilah Muhammad ran the world's best time in the women's 400 hurdles this year, while setting a Drake Relays record in winning the invitational event for the first time. Muhammad circled the track in 53.88 seconds, beating the world leading time of 54.37 that Britton Wilson ran at the Texas Relays last month. She also broke the Drake Relays record that had been set in 2013. Muhammad won the Olympic gold medal in 2016 and was the silver medalist last year. She set the world record at Drake Stadium in the U.S. Championships in 2019.

Aidan Ramsey ran down Newton's Jackson Mace-Maynard in the final 50 meters to win the 1600 in 4:15.96. Ramsey broke the Drake Relays record and beat a strong field in winning the boys 3200. Ramsey took control on the next-to-last lap and sped around the Blue Oval in 8:58.27, putting him at No. 4 on the state's all-time list. He also anchored Dallas Center-Grimes to second in the boys distance medley relay.

Carney capped an outstanding meet with her second straight victory in the 400 hurdles, giving her four titles at this year's Relays. Along with anchoring the winning shuttle hurdle team, she ran on the winning 4x200 relay quartet and won the 100 hurdles for the second year in a row. This comes after she claimed three titles last year: 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and shuttle hurdle relay. She's the first athlete to complete that triple twice at the Relays. Carney sped to a decisive victory in this year's 400 hurdles, running 1:02.87.

The 113th edition of the Drake Relays will be held at historic Drake Stadium April 26-29, 2023.
