Drake Men's Basketball Preview: Relays Night

Indiana State comes to town on Tuesday night for a White Out during Relays Night at the Knapp Center.

The Basics
The Drake (15-6, 6-4) men's basketball team welcomes Indiana State (13-8, 6-4) to the Knapp Center for a White Out presented by Drake West Village on Relays Night Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 8 p.m.

Students will receive a White Out t-shirt courtesy of Drake West Village.

Relays Night
Drake track & field sophomore Adam Phillips will sing the National Anthem.

Voice of the Drake Relays presented by Xtream powered by Mediacom Mike Jay will introduce the dunkers for the halftime dunk contest.

Will Williams, Isaiah Griffith, and Treyton Harris will showcase their athleticism in a halftime dunk contest that has previously produced crowd-thrilling results. While all three are world-class long jumpers that have shattered the 25-foot barrier, they'll have to jump vertically to challenge the legacy of previous competitors from the 2019 competition.

Williams was the 2018 NCAA Champion in the event for Texas A&M. He also recently captured a 2022 NACAC title, while Griffith was an NCAA All-American at Oregon and a 2022 U.S. Olympic Trials finalist. However, Treyton Harris may be the presumptive favorite in the event as he boasts high jump experience, having cleared seven feet in the high jump while also owning a Big Ten title in the long jump while at Indiana.

The contest will feature celebrity judges including President of the Iowa Wolves Ryan Grant, Suzie Glazer Burt women's basketball head coach Allison Pohlman, Ross Peterson from KXNO's Morning Rush, and 1990 NCAA High Jump Champion and past Drake Relays Director Brian Brown.

In addition to the halftime competition, the evening serves as the unofficial start of Relays season with fans, ticket holders and officials treated to special recognition. The first 1,000 fans will receive a 2023 'Go Relays' magnet.

Broadcast Information
Tuesday night's game will be televised live on CBS Sports Network with play-by-play broadcaster Paul Burmeister and analyst Mark Turgeon.

102.1/1350 ESPN Des Moines is the radio home of Drake men's basketball with Michael Admire back to describe the play-by-play with Paul Doerrfeld providing analysis.

Scouting Indiana State
The Sycamores enter Tuesday on a four-game losing streak that began on Jan. 11 in a 69-61 loss against Southern Illinois.

McCauley paces Indiana State this season with 16.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. Redshirt senior guard Cameron Henry also averaged double figures scoring (11.1) while dishing out a team-best 3.9 assists per game.

The Sycamores were predicted to finish seventh in the 2022-23 MVC Preseason Poll.
