Bulldogs Battle Missouri State for Hard-Earned Point

Drake women's soccer left Missouri with another point against the top team in the conference.

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Drake women's soccer earned its sixth shutout of the season in a 0-0 decision at Missouri State at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 5.

"Getting a shutout on the road against the current top team in the league could turn out to be a very important point in MVC standings," head coach Lindsey Horner said. "I'm very proud of how focused and intense our players were today. We had a lot of great performances from both starters and subs, but our older players were great at setting the tone tonight."

The Bulldogs came out on the attack and had several chances in the first half. Missouri State logged 10 shots compared to six from the visitors as the first half was scoreless.

Addie Ford recorded eight saves tonight including six in the second half to seal the scoreless draw. The Bulldogs mustered two shots in the second half as the Bears outshot 19-8.

"It's disappointing that our scoring streak came to end," Horner said. "It wasn't for lack of effort tonight. Valparaiso on Sunday won't be any easier, but we are excited for another great matchup"

The Bulldogs will head back to Des Moines to welcome Valparaiso to Drake Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 8.
