Women's Soccer Preview: Creighton

The start time against Creighton on Sunday, Sept. 3 has been moved up to 10 a.m. due to excessive heat in the forecast.

Time Adjustment
Drake women's soccer will welcome Creighton to Drake Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. The game was originally scheduled to kick off at 12 p.m., but the start time was adjusted two hours earlier due to extreme heat in the forecast. 

Quick Kicks
- Drake women's soccer is off to a 3-1 start after a convincing 2-0 clean sheet victory over North Dakota State on Sunday, Aug. 27.
Addie Ford earned her second start of the season and recorded her first collegiate save. Ford and Kelti Wise teamed up in goal for their second combined shutout of the season.
- Emma Nagel converted a penalty kick goal in the sixth minute against North Dakota State for her first goal of the season and 10th of her career.
- Layla Kelbel established a 2-0 lead early in the second half versus NDSU with her first goal of the year (third of her career). 
- Since joining Drake as a transfer from Saint Louis last year, Madelyn Smith has provided five assists. 
- Drake women's soccer has had eight different players log an assist so far this season.
- Seven different Drake players have scored so far this season.
- The last time Drake had three shutout victories through the first four games of the season was in 2016. 
- The Bulldogs fell for the first time of the season, 2-1 to South Dakota State on Thursday, Aug. 24. 
- Hallie Peak's game-tying goal in the second half against SDSU was her third career goal and first since Oct. 28, 2021, against UNI.

Scouting Creighton
The Bluejays are seeking their first win of the season, entering Sunday with an 0-2-2 mark. Creighton opened the season with a 2-2 draw against Nebraska before dropping back-to-back matches to Missouri (3-1) and Saint Louis (4-1). Creighton battled Kansas State to a scoreless draw last Sunday. 

Creighton returns eight players who started 10 or more matches last season. Maddie Radke, Hannah Luke and Abigail Santana have all registered goals for the Bluejays so far this season. Since 2020, Peighton Steffe has been the heart of the Creighton backline and has played nearly every minute she has been able to. 

Ross Paule enters his ninth season as the head coach of the Creighton women's soccer program with an overall record of 56-66-21. 
 
Series History vs. Creighton
The Bulldogs are 7-11-1 all-time against the Bluejays. Creighton won the last matchup between the two teams on Aug. 22, 2021 in Omaha.
