MANHATTAN, Kan. – Drake men's golf wrapped up the first two rounds at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Kansas State at Colbert Hills Golf Course (Par 72 | 7,525 yards) on Sunday (Sept. 17). The Bulldogs are currently in 12th as a team (299-291--590). Host Kansas State (284-273--557) is in the lead following two rounds.
"We got off to a nice start today," head coach
Matt Lewis said. "We played pretty well in the first round other than a 3-4 hole stretch in the middle of the round. We had two hole-outs today from Nikko and Jack, both for eagles on par 4s."
Toby Webb (76-69--145) turned in Drake's lowest round of the day and is tied for 24th overall.
Nikko Ganas (72-75--147) was at even par in the opening round.
Jack Dumas (75-74-149) remained consistent throughout day one while
Emil Riegger (76-73-149) improved his first round score by three strokes the second time through.
Silvester Tan (77-79--156) rounded out the Drake lineup.
"The second round we got off to a horrible start and were 8-9 over on the first few holes," Lewis said. "The guys battled all day and we finished really strong going from 10 over to 3 over in our final 5-6 holes. I was very proud of their fight on a tough course. Nikko was solid the first round and Toby was huge in our second round."
The final 18-hole round will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18.
