ST. LOUIS -- For the second consecutive week, Drake women's soccer has had a pair of players recognized in the Missouri Valley Conference's weekly awards.
Emma Nagel was named MVC Player of the Week while
Zoey Mahoney earned the distinction of MVC Defender of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (Sept. 19).
Nagel scored a pair of goals this past week including Drake's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to South Dakota on Wednesday, Sept. 13 on a penalty kick. Nagel is 3-for-3 on penalty kick attempts this season. She also scored the game-winner during the 58
th minute in Drake's 2-1 win over UNI on Sunday (Sept. 17) to hand the Panthers their first loss of the season. Nagel has scored a team-high five goals this season.
Mahoney was a key part of Drake's 2-1 win over UNI on Sunday (Sept. 17) to hand the Panthers their first loss of the season. Mahoney earned national notoriety Sunday when her flip throw-in miraculously bounced off the hands of UNI's keeper into the net. Mahoney logged 52 minutes against South Dakota on Wednesday and 77 versus UNI.
Drake women's soccer will play host to Southern Illinois on Thursday, Sept. 21 for its Mental Health Matters Game at 7 p.m.
