DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake women's basketball team has signed a quartet of talented prospects to their newest recruiting class. The Bulldogs welcome prep standouts Anna Becker, Mya Crawford, Quinn Vice, and Mylea Monahan to the Drake community.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Anna, Mya, Quinn, and Mylea to our basketball family," Suzie Glazer Burt Head Coach
Allison Pohlman said. "All four of these women are amazing athletes, and will fit in perfectly with what we're continuing to build at Drake."
Anna Becker is a 5'10" guard from Topeka, Kan. where she attends Seaman High School. Becker has had a decorated prep career for the Vikings with a pair of United Kansas Conference (UKC) Player of the Year Awards, plus multiple All-UKC, All-Shawnee County, and All-State honors. Becker was named the Dan Key Rising Star Female Athlete of the Year as a junior. On the court, she has averaged double figure points all three years as a varsity contributor.
A local product, Mya Crawford brings a special skillset to the Bulldogs' backcourt. A three-time all-league performer, Crawford has averaged at least 8.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game in her high school career. She earned First Team All-State honors last season after leading her Ankeny Centennial Jaguars to the Iowa State Tournament quarterfinals.
Quinn Vice is the only interior presence in the Bulldogs' 2024 signing class. A native of Bettendorf, Iowa and Pleasant Valley student-athlete, Vice was a three-year varsity player and a key piece to the Spartans' undefeated run to the 2023 Iowa State Class 5A Championship. She averaged nearly 10 points per game as a junior and sophomore and will add to the storied history of Drake forwards.
Lastly, Mylea Monahan continues a special connection with Drake women's basketball. Mylea's older sister Maddie was a star for the Bulldogs from 2017-22 and has been her high school coach at Glencoe-Silver Lake. A three-sport athlete, Monahan earned all-conference honors and varsity letters in basketball, soccer, and track & field. She helped lead the Panthers to three consecutive section finals.
Details about Drake's signees…
Anna Becker – Seaman HS – Topeka, Kan.
"Anna Becker is an instinctive basketball player who can impact a game on both ends of the floor. She has a motor that doesn't stop, and can score at all three levels, especially when she gets in the paint and can rise up in the lane. The best part of her game is getting out in transition where she can create for herself and her teammates. On the defensive end she is extremely active, and she can guard every position. Anna loves basketball and as a leader on our team, she is a great teammate and has set many individual records at our school. Drake is signing an exceptional player, but an even better person." – Matt Tinsley, Seaman High School coach
"Anna is not just an exceptional basketball player, but also an outstanding individual both on and off the court. Her high basketball IQ and versatility will make her an invaluable asset to Drake's already dominant roster. As another remarkable athlete from our club program joining the Drake women's basktball family, we are confident that Anna has made a great choice and will thrive under the guidance of Coach Pohlman and her staff." – Jon Lewis, MoKan Basketball coach
Mya Crawford – Centennial HS – Ankeny, Iowa
"We are very excited about Mya signing with the Drake Bulldogs! The Drake fans will love Mya's competitive spirit, passion, and her ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor. Mya brings a special energy to the game and is a great teammate. She will be a great addition to the Drake basketball family." – Scott DeJong, Ankeny Centennial High School coach
"Mya Crawford is an outstanding athlete, a great competitor, and a wonderful human being. Mya will bring enthusiasm and excitement to the Bulldog program. Mya loves to compete and has competed against the very best players in the United States while playing with All-Iowa Attack and did so with much success. She is a great defender, and her basketball IQ is as high as it gets. Mya is the type of student-athlete that will bring a team together and she makes everyone around her better as a result of her being in the gym. It was a blessing to have coached Mya for many years and Drake is certainly getting a terrific player in Mya Crawford!" – Dickson Jensen, All-Iowa Attack coach
Quinn Vice – Pleasant Valley HS – Bettendorf, Iowa
"Quinn is an exceptional young athlete whose dedication and growth over the past four years will undoubtedly enhance the Drake Women's Basketball program. From day one, her work ethic and relentless drive to improve have set her apart, and it has been a privilege to watch her evolve into the player she is today. Offensively, Quinn has consistently expanded her game. She has developed a versatile scoring ability, from finishing with strength around the rim to confidently knocking down three-pointers. This offensive evolution has made her a dynamic threat on the court. Defensively, Quinn is a game-changer. Her presence in the paint as a rim protector is outstanding, and she has an innate ability to alter shots and grab key rebounds. Beyond her on-court skills, Quinn has shown incredible leadership and maturity, serving as a positive role model for her teammates both on and off the court. Her commitment to her craft and her team-first attitude are qualities that will make her an asset at the next level. It has been an honor to coach Quinn, and I have no doubt that she will continue to excel at Drake. I am excited to support her and watch her succeed as she takes the next step in her basketball journey as a Drake Bulldog!" – Jennifer Goetz, Pleasant Valley High School coach
"Quinn was a joy to coach. Everyone sees her talent but my favorite thing about her is her coachability. She is willing to listen to feedback and instruction from coaches and wants to put in the work. She always has a smile on her face and is a great teammate. We are excited to watch her progress under Coach Pohlman and the great staff at Drake. The sky is the limit for Quinn and the Drake team. It will be fun to watch her over the next four years." – Aaron Meyer, Missouri Phenom coach
Mylea Monahan – Glencoe-Silver Lake HS – Silver Lake, Minn.
"Mylea is very versatile player. She brings the intensity on the defensive end with her ability to read passing lanes and rebound. She also brings the intensity on the offensive end by playing the point guard position, putting her teammates in positions to score, and getting a basket herself when they need it most. She has great court vision, the ability to knock down deep threes, and has a quick first step that benefits her on offense and defense. Above all her basketball skills, the thing that sticks out to me the most about Mylea is her selflessness on the court and the way she builds up her teammates. As her head coach and older sister, I've had the experience to coach her, and coach with her when she was out with an ACL injury. She has shown me what a high basketball IQ she has and how she knows how to strategize within the game. She has been a really fun player to coach. I'm really excited about Mylea's future with Drake. I think she will fit their system well with her athletic build and length as well as her ability to shoot the 3 and use her speed to finish at the rim." – Maddie (Monahan) Petersen, Glencoe-Silver Lake High School coach
"Drake just picked up a special young lady in their 2025 class. Mylea is one of the toughest kids I've coached in my over twenty years of working with North Tartan. She is the ultimate team player -- all she wants to do is win! Nothing gets to her; in her first EYBL tournament, playing up a grade, Mylea hit a game winning three pointer in overtime. What made this so special is she wasn't expected to be a 17s player that year but kept working and working then by the start of the AAU season we knew she had to play up. The Monahan family is on the Mt. Rushmore of North Tartan families, and we could not be any more more excited about watching Mylea play for Drake!" – Gerard Coury, North Tartan coach
