DES MOINES, Iowa - The Drake men's tennis team defeated Wichita State 5-2 on Friday in its return home after two weeks of road matches. Drake's record improved to 7-4 with the victory.
"Strong win for the guys today," head coach
Ben Lott said. "It is always good to get a win over a former conference rival. We came out strong in doubles, and with good energy. That really set the platform for us to build into singles with. We are in a good spot heading into our first conference match vs North Dakota next weekend."

The Bulldogs won the doubles point to open the day.
Matija Matic and
Oliver Johansson defeated Richey King and Mykhalio Kvantaliani 6-3.
Matt Clegg and
Markus Bolin then defeated Vanja Hodzic and Alejandro Jacome 6-4 to secure the doubles point.
Jeremy Schifris kicked off singles with a dominant straight-sets win. Schifris trounced Jacome 6-1 and 6-2. Johansson finished his match one minute after Schifris, and he won 6-1, 6-4 in straight sets over Kvantaliani.
Matic delivered the Bulldogs the match victory with his win over Hodzic. Matic won the first set 6-4 but lost the second set 4-6. Matic battled back to win the third set 6-4, clinching a Drake match victory. The remaining singles matches continued their play after Matic's win. Bolin won his match, winning the final two sets after dropping the first.
Aaron Dawson lost to Ziwen Ju in a three-set tiebreak round, and
Olle Sonesson Lidholt lost the final match.
