Grand Forks, N.D. - The Drake Bulldogs collected their first Summit League win in a 5-2 defeat of North Dakota. The match improved Drake's record to 8-4 and 1-0 in conference play.

The Bulldogs began the day by securing the doubles point against the Fighting Hawks. Matija Matic and Oliver Johansson won their seventh doubles match of 2024 in a 6-4 victory over Victor Moreno Lozano and Ange-Kevin Koua. Jeremy Schifris and Olle Sonesson Lidholt followed Matic and Johansson by defeating Ethan Terry and Christos Alex 7-6, earning Drake the doubles point. Matt Clegg and Markus Bolin's match went unfinished.
 
The Bulldogs went on to win four singles matches, with three coming in straight sets. The freshman Ben Johnson set the tone for the Bulldogs by securing a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the first match to finish. Matic followed Johnson with another straight-set victory, winning 7-5 and 6-3 over Leandro Zgraggen. Schifris' match finished third and delivered the Bulldogs their third victory in straight sets. In a battle between Drake and North Dakota's respective preseason athlete to watch, Schifris defeated Lozano 6-4 and 7-5. Schifris' match tilted the advantage to 4-0 Drake and secured a Bulldog victory, but the teams finished playing the remaining matches.
 
The Fighting Hawks battled and gained two points out of the final three matches. Koua put North Dakota in the victory column with a super tiebreak win over Johansson. Terry then delivered North Dakota back-to-back wins by defeating Olle Sonesson Lidholt in a tiebreak match. Bolin's match finished last, and he won 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 over Jerall Yasin, improving his 2024 singles record to 9-2.
