BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Redbirds took down the Bulldogs in a tight match that was decided by the final singles contest of the day. Drake lost 3-4, lowering its record to 8-7 and 1-1 in the Summit League.

The Bulldogs dropped the doubles point to the Redbirds, losing two matches and leaving the third unfinished. Arvid Hjalte and Nam Pham took down
Markus Bolin and
Matija Matic 6-3 in the first match to finish. Caden Scarlett and Tomas Valencia followed suit and defeated
Jeremy Schifris and
Olle Sonesson Lidholt 6-3 to lock in the doubles point for Illinois State.
Oliver Johansson and
Matt Clegg were tied 5-5 with Emiliano Gonzalez and Tin Ostro, but their match went unfinished.
Matic and Bolin got the Bulldogs off to a hot start in singles with two quick wins. Matic defeated Adrian Dibildox 7-5 and 6-4 to win in straight sets, and Bolin defeated Valencia 7-6 and 6-3 to secure back-to-back straight-set victories. Former Summit League Player of the Year Pham defeated Schifris in straight sets to even the match at 2-2.
Emiliano Gonzalez gave the Redbirds a 3-2 advantage by securing a victory over Clegg that went into three sets. Johansson evened the match again at 3-3 by defeating Hjalte in three sets. Illinois State prevailed to win the day when Tin Ostro won over
Aaron Dawson in the last singles spot.
