Grand Rapids, MICH. - The Bulldogs completed racing in the Lubbers Cup Regatta in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, April 6. The regatta had heat races in the morning and final races in the afternoon. The Bulldogs raced a varsity four, a varsity eight, a second varsity eight and a novice four in the event.
 
"We were happy with how everybody did," Head Coach Charlie DiSilvestro said. "They raced hard. We had to race into a current that added about a minute to everybody's time."
 
Despite the weather conditions, the Bulldog boats battled. The first varsity four finished in fourth place with a 10:07.1 time in the heat round and finished in second place out of three teams in the Petite Final with a 10.03.70 time.
 
"It was a really great race for the first varsity four," DiSilvestro said. "They've stayed together really well this year and learned a lot."
 
The novice four boat also impressed, finishing with a 10:25.9 time and a second-place finish.
 
"Our other boats competed very hard against some very good competition. We had a novice four that raced really well and it's a very young boat. They have a Spring race under their belt which will help them in the future."
 
The first varsity eight notched third and fourth place finishes with 7:59.1 and 8:19.1 times respectively. The second varsity eight finished in third place in its heat race and fourth place in its finals race. The boat secured 8:12.09 and 8:53.03 finishes.
