MADISON, Ill. – The Drake men's golf team finished up play in its first event of the fall season this afternoon at the Dolenc Invitational. The Bulldogs finished in 16th out of the 18-team field after two days of competition with a three-round total of 885 (298-284-302=884).
A pair of sophomore Bulldogs led the way for Drake on the leaderboard in
Jake Weissenburger and
Dylan Drogemuller. Weissenburger carded rounds 72-70-75 for a 217 total, while Drogemuller was right behind at 218 and posted rounds of 72-71-75. Weissenburger ended the tournament tied for 37th on the leaderboard and Drogemuller tied for 41st. Weissenburger's second round score of 1-under, 70 was also the lowest round of the tournament for Drake.
Jack Dumas was next in the Bulldog lineup with a 222 final score (77-71-74=222). He finished tied for 56th.
Nikko Ganas (77-72-79=228) and
Sam Johnson (81-72-78=231) rounded out the full Bulldog lineup.
Host team SIU Edwardsville claimed the team title with an 837 final score (277-276-284). Connor Hamm of Bradley won the individual title at 200 (64-67-69).
The Bulldogs will tee it up next at the Wildcat Invitational at Colbert Hills Golf Club in Manhattan, Kansas Sep. 16-17.
