Men's Soccer Preview: Evansville & Omaha

Bulldogs look to extend winning streak with pair of road matches

The Basics 
The Drake University men's soccer team will look to extend their three-game winning streak this weekend with the Bulldogs' first conference game. The team will travel to Evansville, Ind., to take on the Purple Aces (Sep. 14) followed by a non-league tilt at Omaha (Sep. 17).  
 
Bulldogs by the Numbers
The Bulldogs' winning stretch moved to three matches with two gritty home wins against the Houston Christian Huskies (Sep. 6) and Kansas City Roos (Sep. 9). Drake now sits at 4-2 overall and is one of four MVC teams with at least four victories.

Scouting Evansville 
Evansville is hosting Drake in an equal position to the Bulldogs. The team is also 4-2 this season but is coming off a two-game losing streak. The Aces had a disappointing 3-2 loss to Lindenwood followed by a 4-1 defeat to in-state rival Butler in their two most recent contests. 
 
The Bulldogs lead the all-time series by a 21-23-2. Drake earned the win in the most recent meeting, a 2-1 win in Des Moines last season, after three-straight Ace triumphs.

Scouting Omaha 
Omaha is off until Sep. 17 when Drake crosses the Missouri River for their matchup.  
The Mavericks have a 4-1-1 record for the season with all four wins coming in the team's first four games. Omaha has gone 0-1-1 in their last two contests including a loss at Grand Canyon and a 2-2 draw to Houston Christian. 
 
The all-time series between Drake and Omaha has been evenly drawn, 2-2-4. The last three installments have been ties with Drake earning the most recent result, a 2-1 home win in 2021.
