ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Zoey Mahoney of Drake women's soccer was named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning.
 
The local product from Waukee, Iowa, propelled Drake to its win over UNI scoring the lone goal in the match in the 82nd minute on Saturday. Her game winner marked her second goal of the season. Mahoney played 68 out of a possible 90 minutes in the match and bolstered a Bulldogs backline that held the Panthers to just three shots in the match, all coming in the second half, and one shot on goal.
 
The Bulldogs will be back on the pitch for a road contest against Illinois State on Thursday, October 23. Kickoff against the Redbirds is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT.
