Women's Soccer Preview: Indiana State

Bulldogs back at home as MVC slate rolls along

The Basics
The Drake women's soccer team returns to Des Moines and Mediacom Stadium on Sunday after a two-match road trip last week to host the Indiana State Sycamores. The Sunday matinee against Indiana State is scheduled for a 1 p.m. CT kickoff.
 
Bulldogs by the Numbers
The Bulldogs currently sit atop the MVC standings through the first three games of the conference slate with a record of 2-0-1. Drake has wins over Valparaiso and most recently defeated Murray State, 1-0, to cap off a two-game road trip last week. The Bulldogs tied with Belmont, 2-2, in the first game of their recent road trip. Senior forward Eve Blakey continues to be a standout player for the Bulldogs and leads the team with 18 total points and 8 goals. Her eight goals surpasses her total amount from the 2024 season, when she scored seven, and her four game winning goals this season have her tied for fourth in the nation.

Scouting Indiana State
The Sycamores make the trek over to Des Moines boasting an overall record of 5-3-5 and are unbeaten in conference play with a mark of 1-0-2. In its last time out, Indiana State came away with a road victory over Evansville, 2-0. The Sycamores carry a potent offensive attack and have scored a total of 35 goals this season, which is the most in the MVC. In conference games, Indiana State has scored six goals in three contests, which is the third most among league members.
 
Drake leads the all-time series against the Sycamores by a mark of 17-7-3. In the meeting last season from Terre Haute, Indiana State got the better of Drake and won, 2-0. In the last 10 matchups between the two sides, Drake is 5-3-2. In games played from Des Moines, the Bulldogs are 10-1-1 all-time against Indiana State.
