SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Summit League announced that Drake took home two weekly awards after wins over Austin Peay and Oral Roberts last week. Ben Johnson was the Kwik Star Summit League Men's Tennis Peak Singles Performer of the Week and the duo of Adan Tarquino and Aaron Dawson was the Kwik Star Summit League Men's Tennis Peak Doubles Team of the Week, the league announced today.
 
Johnson won two doubles peak team awards earlier this year but this is his first individual award. This is the first-ever weekly accolade for Tarquino and Dawson.
 
Johnson earned this honor after going 2-0 in singles on the week. On Thursday, Mar. 20, he defeated Austin Peay's Tom Bolton 6-3, 6-2 to aid the Bulldogs in a 6-1 match victory. Then, he iced the Summit League victory at Oral Roberts on Saturday, Mar. 22. The Bulldogs and Golden Eagles were tied at 3-3, and Johnson's match was the only one remaining. He won the match for Drake by taking down his opponent, Elijah Brewer, in three sets (6-7, 6-4, 6-3).
 
Tarquino and Dawson earned their award after taking a victory on the second doubles court against Oral Roberts. They defeated defeated Elijah Brewer and Jonathan Evans 6-2.
 
The Bulldogs return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 26 at home against Illinois State.
