The Basics
Drake men's tennis will be back on the road this weekend for a pair of away matches in Evansville, Ind., as the Bulldogs face Southern Indiana on Friday, Feb. 6, before taking on Austin Peay on Saturday, Feb. 7.
Drake will look to secure its first road win of the 2026 spring season and build on a two-match winning streak following last weekend's home victories over Marquette and Creighton.

Bulldog Breakdown
Drake enters the weekend with a 2-2 overall record after defeating Marquette and Creighton at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs showed depth across the lineup during the homestand, winning 10 of 12 singles matches while also capturing the doubles point against Marquette. Drake has received strong play throughout the lineup early in the season and will aim to carry that momentum onto the road.
Scouting Southern Indiana
Southern Indiana will open its 2026 spring season against Drake on Friday. The Screaming Eagles finished the 2025 season with a 5-10 overall record and will look to bounce back this spring.
USI is led by longtime head coach Chris Crawford, who is in his 17th season guiding the men's tennis program and is the all-time winningest coach in program history with 190 career victories. Crawford was named the 2024-25 Horizon League Coach of the Year after leading the Screaming Eagles to their first NCAA Division I conference tournament appearance.
Under Crawford's leadership, Southern Indiana has a history of sustained success, including multiple NCAA Division II postseason appearances and consistent conference contention prior to its transition to Division I.
Friday's matchup will mark the season opener for the Screaming Eagles.
Scouting Austin Peay
Austin Peay enters the weekend 0-2 on the young season after opening the spring with a 7-0 loss to Belmont on Jan. 23 and a 6-1 loss to Lipscomb on Jan. 31, both in Nashville, Tenn.
The Governors are led by head coach Kurt Kujawa, who was named Austin Peay's head men's tennis coach and Assistant Director of Tennis this summer after spending 11 seasons on the Governors' men's and women's tennis staff. Kujawa previously served alongside former head coach Ross Brown and current head women's tennis coach Maria Sorbello Morrison, helping the women's program to an Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title in 2021 and an OVC Regular Season Championship in 2022.
Kujawa also brings extensive coaching and instructional experience, including founding and directing the Kujawa Tennis Academy and serving as a high school head coach and club professional in New York and Tennessee.
The Governors will be searching for their first win of the spring as they host Drake on Saturday in Evansville.
