Rowing Preview: MACRA Championship Regatta

Bulldogs set to race multiple boats Sunday at Eagle Creek

The Basics

Drake Rowing is set to compete in the MACRA Championship Regatta this Sunday at Eagle Creek in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Bulldogs will race in the women's varsity 4+, women's novice 4+, and women's varsity 8+ events.

Drake will have two entries in the varsity four, one entry in the novice four, and one entry in the varsity eight. The varsity four event features 12 entries, the novice four has 13 entries, and the varsity eight includes 10 entries.

Head Coach Charlie DiSilvestro on the Race

"We're really excited to race at MACRA. It has turned into a huge regatta and one of the premier events in the country. We'll see some teams we've already raced this season, which will give us a good measure of how much progress we've made in training, but we'll also face some teams we haven't seen before and maybe never have. That makes it really exciting. The team is ready, and we're looking forward to a great day of racing."

Last Time Out

Drake last competed at the SIRA Championship Regatta in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where the Bulldogs raced a novice four and a varsity eight against a strong field. The novice four placed sixth in the Women's Novice 4+ Open A Final with a time of 8:40.410, while the varsity eight finished fifth in the Women's Varsity 8+ Open B Final in 7:23.092. The Bulldogs gained valuable experience competing against high-level crews and will look to build on that performance this weekend.
