ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Addie Ford and Alanna Pennington of Drake Women's Soccer have been named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

The senior duo for the Bulldogs provided some lockdown defense in Drake's two shutout wins over Grand View and SIUE. Ford made the save on the lone shot on goal from her opponents in the two matches as the Bulldogs allowed just one shot to the Vikings and one shot to the Cougars. Meanwhile, Pennington provided some offense to go along with her defensive prowess and scored her first goal the season during Drake's 5-0 rout of Grand View. Ford, Pennington, and the rest Bulldogs defense have now produced four consecutive shutouts, which have led to four consecutive victories.

Drake returns to the pitch tomorrow for a match against Western Illinois. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. from Mediacom Stadium. The contest against the Leathernecks also marks the annual Mental Health Awareness Game for Drake Women's Soccer and the team will wear special green uniforms as part of its efforts to break the stigma around mental health.
