PEORIA, Ill. – Drake cross country was in action last night at the Bradley Intercollegiate meet in Peoria, which replaced the Iowa State Regional Preview, which was canceled earlier in the week. The Bulldogs had another handful of standout performances in both men's and women's races.
The host Braves posted the top five men's times, but the Bulldogs were able to log a pair of top 10 finishes.
Juan Trasobares crossed the line in seventh with a time of 25:44.0, just ahead of fellow Bulldog
Gaven Corpin's 25:46.8 eighth-place mark.
Drake had three other participants in the top 30 including Jake Devivo in 22nd (27:06.3),
Ryan Tobin in 27th (27:37.4), and
Landon Bendgen in 30th (27:41.8).
The women's race followed the conclusion of the men's action with Bradley again dominating the top of the leaderboard. The Braves boasted 11 of the first 12 finishers.
Gracie Foster was Drake's top runner with a 13th place time of 18:28.4.
Hannah Kilday (20th, 19:09.7),
Scarlett Byrnes (23rd, 19:16.1),
Adeline Viergutz (24th, 19:28.0), and Bella Hodges (25th, 19:31.3) were all within the top 25.
Fabi Gipson narrowly missed that threshold with a time of 19:33.3, good enough for 26th.
The Bulldogs will be back in motion next Friday, Sep. 25, at the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the Missouri Tigers. The starting gun is set to fire at 8 a.m. sharp in Columbia.
