ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Zoey Mahoney was named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. This marks the second Defensive Player of the Week honor for Mahoney this season.

Mahoney was stellar in the Bulldogs' 4-0 victory over Valparaiso this past Sunday to open the conference season. The senior led the charge and scored two goals in the contest opening the scoring in the 20th minute and capped the scoring in the 75th minute for the first multi-goal game in her career. The Waukee, Iowa native also played a key role in limiting the Beacons offense to just three shots on net to help secure Drake's sixth shutout of the season.

Mahoney and the Bulldogs will be back in action this weekend with a road contest at Evansville on Saturday, Sep. 26. Kickoff against the Purple Aces is scheduled for 1 p.m.
