Biography

Coach Stephens on Keizer “Kelsey is the hardest worker on the team and it’s one of many reasons she was selected team captain.  Kelsey is a versatile post player, who has improved every year she has been in our program.”

Junior Year (2007-08)
Appeared in all 34 contests and averaged 3.2 points and 3.0 rebounds, while shooting just over 40 percent (.404) from the field...numbers were steady in league play posting 2.8 points and 2.3 rebounds...cracked double-figures in scoring on two occasions...sparked a come-from-behind 65-56 home victory over Green Bay in the opening round of the WNIT, coming off the bench to score 10 of her season-high 12 points and pull down five of her season-best eight rebounds in the second half to finish the game 4-of-6 from the field and 4-for-4 at the charity stripe...distributed a season-high four assists in a 72-42 home win over Missouri State...rejected two shots apiece versus Sacramento State and at Evansville...notched a team-best eight rebounds in an 89-52 victory against Sacramento State...one of five Bulldogs in double-figures with 10 points in a 77-58 triumph at Western Illinois.

Sophomore Year (2006-07)
Enjoyed seven double-figure scoring efforts in 33 games, including 21 starts...averaged 5.8 points and 5.4 rebounds, while hitting on 43.9 percent of her shots from the floor...playing all 45 minutes, she collected her first career double-double with a 13-point, 10-rebound performance in a 67-62 overtime setback at Evansville...ranked third on the team in double-doubles with three, the biggest coming with a 13-point, 10-rebound effort versus Evansville in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament...numbers jumped to 7.6 points and a team-best 6.4 rebounds in conference play...sparked Drake to an 18-point comeback victory at Wichita State with a career-high 20 points...turned in a six-rebound, two-point effort in the Bulldogs’ NCAA Tournament game versus No. 3/4 Tennessee...an honorable mention MVC Scholar-Athlete team honoree.

Freshman Year (2005-06)
Played in 11 games and averaged 1.1 points and 1.3 rebounds...scored seven points on three-of-four shooting, including one-of-two from the three-point line in a win at Creighton...added a then career-high five rebounds in 16 minutes in that victory...picked up four rebounds while cracking the scoring column for the first time as a collegian in 69-51 triumph over UC Riverside.

High School Three-time Iowa Class 2A all-state performer...earned first team all-state honors as a junior and senior and third team accolades as a sophomore...three-time first team All-Siouxland Conference honoree...garnered a trio of all-district selections...owns 22 school records, including career points (1,679), rebounds (1,162), assists (277), steals (266), points in a game (38) and rebounds in a game (27)...collected 68 double-doubles in 94 career games...averaged 19.8 points, 14.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 4.0 steals and 1.5 blocks during her senior campaign...named MVP of the 2005 Pizza Ranch Black & Gold Senior All-Star game...chosen as captain of Northwest Iowa Review All-Siouxland first team as both a junior and senior...Sioux City Journal All-Siouxland first team as a senior...McDonald’s All-American nominee during 2005 campaign...averaged 18.5 points, 13.7 rebounds, 2.88 assists, 3.2 steals and 1.4 blocks as a junior...twice helped team to conference and district championships...averaged 16.5 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.86 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.4 blocks as a sophomore...Northwest Iowa Review All-Siouxland second team pick as a sophomore...recorded 16.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.8 blocks during her freshman year...third team All-Siouxland Conference selection as a freshman...also a four-year letterwinner in volleyball and a two-time all-district and all-state selection...earned academic all-state honors in 2005...academic all-conference honoree...graduated with a 4.0 grade point average.
