Drake University Athletics

Chris Hines has one season of eligibility remaining to play at Drake following three seasons of play and one redshirt year at the University of Utah. After earning his undergraduate degree from Utah in May 2012, he is eligible to play immediately in 2012-13 for the Bulldogs.

2012-13 -- Has scored 56 points in the last five games including a team-high 21 points in the win over Evanvsille ... exploded for a career-high 23 points in the win at Illinois State ... has had 64 points on 23-of-54 shooting in the last six games ... had 13 points with two assists and three steals against Iowa State ... scored his most points at Drake with 19 against IPFW, two short of a career high ... scored six points with four boards at Nevada ... had six points, four on free throws with two steals against Xavier ... scored 11 points in 18 minutes in the win over Rice ... made his Drake debut with 14 points in 26 minutes including four straight free throws in the final minutes to keep Drake’s comeback hopes alive at Detroit ... did not play in the season opener or exhibition due to a right leg injury.

College -- Hines played three seasons at Utah (2009-12) after redshirting his first year in 2008-09. Last year, as a redshirt-junior, he started 26 of the Utes' 29 games and ranked second on the team in scoring (9.6), while leading the team in three-point field goals (66), competing in the Pac-12. Playing 30.4 minutes per game (2^nd on team), Hines also added 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.

High School -- A native of Houston, Hines starred at Klein Forest High School, where he led his team to a record of 33-4 his senior season. He was named first-team all-state, all-district and All-Houston, as well as district and team MVP after a senior season in which he averaged 17 points and seven assists per game.

Personal -- Hines, who will receive his undergraduate degree in speech communication, plans to pursue a master's degree in public administration.
