Prior to Drake: Started all 32 games for UAB in 2017-18 and averaged 7.5 points while dishing out 4.9 assists per game ... before suffering a season-ending injury in 2016-17, he was named All-Conference USA third team as a sophomore by averaging 8.9 points per game and leading the league in assist-to-turnover ratio ... he was also named the Conference USA Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year ... as a freshman, he was one of 21 Kyle Macy National Freshman of the Year Award finalists and named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team ... at Central Catholic High School he led the team to a 2A state title as a senior and scored 25 points in the title game ... he played one season there after three seasons at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Mo., earning a pair of all-state honors.
 
Personal: The son of Randy and Claire Norton with has strong ties to Iowa ... Randy, who is currently the head women's basketball coach at UAB, played both basketball and baseball at the University of Iowa ... on the hardwood, he was a guard on the 1979 Big Ten Championship team and the 1980 Final Four team.
