2024 Outdoor: 2024 MVC Outdoor Track & Field Champion in the 800m run with top times in both prelims and finals (1:51.16; 1:48.68)...MVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Most Outstanding Track Performer...Finished 11th at NCAA West Region Prelims (3:41.06) to reach NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships...finished 16th to notch Second Team All-America status in 1500m (3:39.60)...saw limited action in the regular season with an 18th place finish in 1500 at Bryan Clay Invitational and fifth place result and school record in elite 800m run at 114th Drake Relays (1:46.89).
2023-24 Indoor: Won opening indoor event with a victory in the Mile at Iowa State Classic (3:56.48)...also won the mile at MVC Indoor Track & Field Championships with top times in both prelims and finals (4:11.59; 4:07.83)...posted two top 10 results in the mile (3:53.54) and 1500m (3:38.47) at Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational...finished 13th at NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships.
2023 Cross Country: Top 30 finisher at Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational in 24:11.60 and 111th at NCAA Division I Midwest Region Cross Country Championships.
2023 Outdoor: Qualified for National Championships in 1500 and took 5th (3:43.33)...PR in 1500 at Brayan Clay Invitational (3:36.99).
2022 Cross Country: MVC Cross Country Men’s Athlete of the Year… Set his 8K PR at the Gans Creek Classic (23:50.3)… Secured back-to-back MVC individual victories at the MVC Cross Country Championships with a time of 24:29.7… Qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
2022 Outdoor: NCAA All-American… Ran his 1500m PR of 3:39.08 at the Bryan Clay Invitational… Won the 1500m at the Drake Relays with a time of 3:39.11… Won the MVC Outdoor Championships 1500m in 3:54.21… Qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field championships 1500m final where he finished 10
th.
2022 Indoor: NCAA All-American… Ran his mile PR of 3:56.10 at the Arkansas Qualifier… Finished fifth in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships final.
2021 Outdoor: Set his 5000m PR (14:19.24) at the Jim Duncan Invitational… Recorded his season-best 1500m time of 3:39.57 in the preliminary round at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
2021 Indoor: MVC Indoor Champion in the 5200m (15:31.29)… Broke the 4-minute barrier in the mile with a time of 3:58.88 at the Iowa State Holiday Invitational.
2021 Cross Country: MVC Cross Country Men’s Athlete of the Year… Won the MVC Cross Country Championships 8K with a season-best time of 24:13.0… Ran a 10K PR at the NCAA Midwest Regionals (30:46.9)… Qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships and finished with a time of 31:33.8.
2020 Indoor: Won the 3000m at the MVC Indoor Championships and was a member of the DMR that finished third ... set a personal best in the 3000m at the Iowa State ... set a personal best in the Mile at Frank Sevigne Invitational ... placed second in the Mile at the Cyclone Open ... finished third in the 3000m at the Graduate Classic and was a member of the DMR who finished second.
2019 Cross Country: Placed 21st at the MVC Championship in the 8k … Placed 12th at the Hawkeye Individual in the 6k with a time of 18:39.5 … Placed 99th at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
Prior to Drake: Placed first at the Minnesota State Championships in the 3,200 meters and fifth in the 1,600 meters his senior year … was a state champion in the 4x800-meter relay as a junior.
Personal: Son of Ken and Kristen Basten … sister, Prentice, was a member of the women’s hockey team at Providence College … his father played golf at St. Cloud State from 1988-1993 … intends to major in data analytics.
