Biography
Micah Mason begins his collegiate career at Drake in 2012-13 after becoming the all-time leading scorer at Highlands High School in Allegheny, Pa. His accomplishments also include setting the record for career three-pointers in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL).
2012-13 -- Has eight assists and no turnovers in the last two games ... his four assists led to 11 points against Creighton ... ss shooting 49 percent from three-point range ... had 14 points on 4-of-7 three-point shooting for 14 points against Wichita State ... scored a career-high 19 points on 5-of-6 three-point shooting with six assists in the win over Eastern Illinoins ... made his first career start against NC Central and had two assists and three points ... played significant minutes at the point against Iowa State and finished with seven points and a career-high four assists ... recorded his second most points of the season with eight against IPFW ... scored six points in the loss to Saint Mary’s ... hit a three-pointer and had two assists in the loss to Xavier ... played five minutes and spent considerable time at the point guard position at Detroit ... made all three three-point attempts against William Jewell ... cored 10 points on 2-of-3 shooting from behind the arc in the exhibition against SBU.
High School: Mason capped his record-setting prep career at Highlands High School (Allegheny, Pa.) in 2011-12 by averaging 29.1 points per game and becoming the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League's (WPIAL) all-time leader in three-pointers (335). He averaged 33.3 points per game as a junior, and led the WPIAL in scoring in both his junior and senior seasons, surpassing the 2,000 point mark for his career. Mason, as a junior in 2010-11, also added 8.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game for Highlands, and shot 47% from three-point range. He earned a spot on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's "Fab Five" Boys Basketball team and was area player of the year by the Valley News Dispatch. Mason scored 64 points in a game that season, the second-highest single-game total by a player in a WPIAL history.
