Ellen Davis joined the Drake cross country and track & field staff in February 2020 as the Bulldogs' nutritionist.
A Hy-Vee dietitian and board certified sports dietitian, Davis brings a decade of nutrition experience to the cross country and track & field teams. As a specialist in sports dietetics, Davis coaches student-athletes to use food as fuel to improve performance, enhance recovery and remain injury free (or improve return to competition following an injury or illness.)
Davis developed a passion for good health and performance enhancing nutrition while competing on the track and cross country teams at the University of Missouri. A special interest in sports nutrition was developed as she recognized the correlation between nutritious choices and optimal performances. As a three-year team captain for the Tigers, Davis earned several All-Big 12 athletic and academic honors.
As a Iowa high school prep athlete, Davis competed at North-Linn high school and won 13 state track titles, two state cross country titles and an 800m Drake Relays championship.
Davis strives to meet her athletes where they are while providing practical tips and realistic suggestions.
