    Goalkeepers Coach
Hugo Macedo has been coaching the Drake University women's soccer team's goalkeepers since the 2016 season.
 
He assumed this role at Drake after spending two seasons in the same role with the Des Moines Menace of the Women's Premier Soccer League. Prior to the Menace, he was a student assistant coach and the goalkeepers coach at his alma mater, AIB, in Des Moines.
 
While on staff at AIB, he coached Kaylin Swart, a member of the South African national women's team and 2016 Olympian. Under Macedo's tutelage, Swart earned 2014 Midwest Collegiate Conference Freshman of the Year accolades and helped lead the team its first-ever conference title. Macedo also coached Darren Marcello to All-Midwest Collegiate Conference First Team honors.
 
Macedo is active in youth club soccer in Des Moines. He is the program director of Iowa Elite Futsal and the goalkeeper coach with Iowa Rush.
 
A native of Amparo, Brazil, Macedo played at AIB and received his degree in administration and management from the AIB College of Business.
